In Term 1, Year 8 students were fortunate enough to have Dom from Optus Digital Thumbprint return to run a workshop for our cohort on Gen AI and Online Safety.
This workshop supported students with the knowledge and tools to use it as a tool to enhance their creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, rather than relying on it to do the work for them. Through interactive scenarios and in-class engagement with Gen AI applications, students gained awareness of the potential negative uses of the technology, strategies, and skills to protect themselves from its misuse.
Topics covered in the workshop were:
We hope that our students are able to take learnings from this workshop and use it to better protect themselves online as well as using the tools available to them in a positive manner.
During Week 10 we held our Term 1 Celebration Assembly. We were fortunate enough to have our Year 8 Captains run the assembly. To Harleen and Nirmal, well done on an amazing job. To our Year 8 cohort thank you for the respect shown throughout the assembly.
We would also like to congratulate the students that were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication this term. Your effort does not go unnoticed. We look forward to celebrating all the hard work of our Year 8 cohort in our Term 2 Celebration assembly.
Our Year 7s have shown respect, responsibility, and safety throughout their first term of high school! They have met and exceeded their student expectations. All year 7 students should feel very proud of themselves for their great start to their journey in CESC.
Our Year 7 students really enjoyed their time at camp. It was an action-packed couple of days which led to students building new relationships, developing their skills, and finding comfort within the year 7 cohort!
