As Term 1 concludes, we reflect on what has been a productive and energetic start to the academic year. As is tradition, our year commenced by welcoming our new Year 7 cohort and our Year 12 students. We recognise that our senior students are embarking on a fast-paced and demanding year; however, with comprehensive supports in place, we remain committed to fostering the positive relationships essential to their success.
Our Year 12 students began their journey with a retreat in Mount Eliza, providing an ideal environment to build rapport and strengthen peer connections. Similarly, our Year 7 students enjoyed a camp at Campaspe Downs, where they focused on developing their friendship networks and transitioning into the school community.
In terms of academic assessments, NAPLAN remains a key Term 1 commitment for all schools, including CESC. We look forward to seeing our students’ hard work reflected in their performance.
Creativity is also thriving, with rehearsals already underway for this year’s school musical. Our dedicated actors and stage managers are in full rehearsal mode, and we eagerly anticipate the excitement of opening night.
On a strategic level, we have successfully begun the rollout of our new School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) program. Staff across the college are utilising this framework to encourage, recognise, and reward positive behaviour, while simultaneously setting clear and consistent expectations across the school.
Physical education and school spirit were also on display during the CESC athletics days. It was fantastic to see such high levels of participation and enthusiasm across all year levels.
Finally, I would like to wish the entire CESC community a safe and restful break over the school holidays and Easter period. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the commencement of Term 2.
