The LOTE team wishes you: "马年有骐骥 mǎ nián yǒu qí jì. “骐骥 (qí jì)” means a legendary fine horse, symbolising exceptional talent and potential. It is also a homophone of“奇迹” (miracle), hinting that the Year of the Horse is full of extraordinary possibilities"

Slate & Gordon Industry Spotlight Session

On February 19th, our Year 12 Legal students visited Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Melbourne CBD, getting a real life experience of careers in the legal world. It was an exciting and inspiring experience, where our students heard from a range of public school graduates who are now working as lawyers on the frontline. The lawyers we heard from, were passionate women and men, working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, on meaningful, relevant cases. They shared real life stories and how they got to where they are, not always sharing the same pathway! The common theme was 'Try your best, however if you do not get your dream ATAR, you can still become whoever you want to be'... there are alternative pathways and it is often not a straight line to where you are heading.

Students were able to tour the amazing S & G headquarters, speak with panel members and consider what life might be like as a Slater and Gordon employee. We even met and sat with The Hon James Merlino in the boardroom and heard about his journey to where he is today!

💡Key takeaways: Your journey is unique, your skills (like speaking another language) are powerful, and your future is full of potential!

The day finished off with our students observing a special Chinese New Year Lion Dance in the foyer of S & L - what a treat! 🎉 A huge thank you to Ourschool and Slater and Gordon Lawyers for hosting such a special day for our CESC students!

International Day of Happiness

On March 20th, we had the pleasure of welcoming back 3 alumni from Cranbourne East Secondary College, Class of 2020. Chloe Giesen, Diya Patel and Adeela Razi have all studied and been interested in the field of 'Psychology' so we thought it was only fitting that they share their thoughts and expertise on 'International Day of Happiness.' Our CESC Yr 11 Psychology class loved hearing their study and career pathways, some of their highlights and challenges, and how it's ok to change paths and detour. Self-care was a strong theme, along with following your interests and passions. Chloe is working towards becoming a Behaviour Support Practioner, Diya is on her way to being a clinical Psychologist and Adeela has just started her Masters in Speech Pathology.

We are so proud of our CESC graduates, and all they are aspiring to, & we look forward to following their journey's.  A huge thank you Chloe, Diya & Adeela!
