2026 College Captains Address

Term 1 brought an energetic start to the year, with the whole school returning refreshed and ready to dive into new classes, reconnect with friends, and settle into updated routines. The buzz around school was immediate, as students balanced busy schedules, embraced new opportunities, and tackled multiple SACs and CATs with determination. This year was our first year of ‘connect,’ 25 minute classes dedicated towards pastoral care and student bonding, as they connect with their peers and connect with teachers, fostering strong connections within the CESC community. A key leadership highlight was the GRIP leadership meeting, where student leaders collaborated with peers from different schools. The experience was inspiring, offering fresh perspectives, new ideas, and practical ways to strengthen leadership skills. Bringing these insights back to school has helped encourage a more embracing, supportive environment for all students.

So far, for year 12s, the term has been both exciting and rewarding, filled with memorable moments such as receiving the year 12 jackets, camp, our last first day of school and our final photo day, all marking important milestones in our final year. Receiving our Year 12 jackets had the cohort buzzing, with photos  and handmade signs marking a bittersweet start to our final year. Camp was a core memory experience for many year 12 students, participating in games and activities, dancing and spending time with our friends, allowing us to bond and share many laughs, creating memories for life. During camp our teachers really brought their best dance moves, along with our cohort hyping each other up and participating in the YMCA, this experience is truly unforgettable as it’s filled with so many joyful memories.

Our recent Split Athletics Day was a standout event on the school calendar, bringing together students from all year levels for a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and school spirit. From the first races in the morning to the final relays in the afternoon, the atmosphere remained lively and full of excitement. Students eagerly participated in a wide range of track and field events, demonstrating determination, resilience, and a willingness to challenge themselves. A highlight of the day was the incredible house spirit on display, with students proudly wearing their colours, chanting, and supporting one another throughout each event. The sense of unity and friendly competition was evident across the entire school, making the day enjoyable for participants and spectators alike. Athletics Day was more than just a sporting event; it was a celebration of teamwork, participation, and community.

As we wrap up a vibrant and memorable Term 1, we are incredibly proud of all that our school community has achieved and the spirit shown throughout. Looking ahead, there is a genuine sense of excitement for what’s to come, with Term 2 set to begin with energy and momentum. Set to be a term where student voice continues to grow, with more ideas being shared and brought to life, a key goal for the term ahead is strengthening the sense of connection and involvement across the school for our students and staff alike. With key events such as Harmony Day, along with a range of cohort-specific opportunities including careers expos, there is plenty to look forward to. We wish everyone a safe, restful, and well-deserved break, and look forward to returning refreshed and ready to make the most of the term ahead!

Grip Student Leadership Conference

In Term 1, Our senior college captains attended the GRIP Leadership conference alongside other schools and captains across Victoria at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

The conference was a practical and interactive leadership event where leaders developed practical skills and interacted with school captains from other schools sharing expertise and their experiences.

Our College Captains gained new insights in leadership, initiatives and developed their capability through the conference and are excited to bring their ideas back to CESC and develop them into larger initiatives.
