Prep

We would like to start by saying congratulations - it has been amazing to see how much growth students have made in such a short period of time, 83 school days to be exact! Thankyou for your ongoing support. We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks, have a read below to find out what we have been doing. 

Literacy 

In Literacy, we have officially explored all the letters in the alphabet. Students have been practicing building words by saying the word, breaking the word into sounds and representing the sounds with the corresponding letter. Our next step is consolidating our knowledge to being automatic when writing. We practice this through our weekly recounts. We have also been exploring nonfiction books. Students have been practicing recalling facts and then writing about them. 

Numeracy 

In Maths, we have been learning about adding. Students have been exploring different strategies to support them to solve addition problems, like count all and count on from the bigger number. 

We have also been exploring time. Students identify how long events take, classifying them into short or long time. Students have also been putting daily events back in order and beginning to justify why. 

Humanities

In Humanities, it was wonderful to see so many families come to visit our classroom to see our habitats we have been making. Students have been creating dioramas that have provided our creature with a home.

Please bring library and decodable books in every Friday.
