Term 2- Week 4
It is always a great way to celebrate a term by reflecting on what has taken place across the last 10 weeks. The students at Moriac have had a great balance of learning, growth, fun and at this point in the year when assessments are being conducted, we can see the progress and hard work our staff have put into the year so far paying off.
The image above was taken at our recent Year 5/6 Production night were families of students in Year 5/6 enjoyed watching 3 shows that were produced and developed by the students at Moriac PS. Mr Jared Smith always does an amazing job of taking our students ideas and brings them to life in a script especially written for our students. The work then continues with students choreographing all the dances in the production and learning specific lines off by heart for the show. We thank all families for their support when it came to costumes and props as these make the shows even more special. Finally on the night, the music, lights and sound effects all result in a really professional end product that our students should all be really proud of. Well done to all and see below for more pics!

Next week all student reports will be available for viewing and download from Compass on Wednesday 24th June. Staff have worked hard to gather their assessments and make teacher judgements about where all children are sitting for reporting purposes.
In some cases, you may have received a personal phone call from a teacher to discuss your child's report as there can be many reasons why it might appear that a child hasn't 'shown' growth on a report when in fact they have. Due to the 5 point system scale schools are required to use for reporting purposes, it can make it difficult to show all growth in a single dot which is why our teachers spend a lot of time writing written comments.
We would like all student reports to be a real celebration for all the hard work they have done over the first half of the term and would like to congratulate them all on their success! Time to discuss the reports will be available in Week 3 of Term 3 when we meet for parent teacher conferences.
Please keep an eye out for the Compass post letting you know when all reports will be ready for viewing.

Early in Term 3, I will send out a compass post and let families know when the booking system will be open to book your time to speak with your child's teacher for interviews/conferences. Tuesday July 28th, is the afternoon/evening allocated for all classes for interviews. We will run the interviews from 2:20pm (after the last lunch bell) all the way through until 6:30pm. If the times do not suit or you cannot book in for your preferred time, please make contact with your child's teacher regardless as they may have availability on another day or offer a phone conversation as an alternative. Students will remain at school until their normal dismissal time and will be supervised by specialist teachers during the final hour of the school day to release classroom teachers to meet with parents and carers.
During the beginning of Term 3, Melinda in the office and Mrs T will continue to be away from school for a period of time. Continuing to replace Mrs T is Mrs Roache and while Melinda is away, we have a replacement administration staff member Cathy who will be working with us in the front office. Cathy has worked in school admin for many years and was coaxed out of retirement to replace Melinda for a short stint. Cathy is extremely friendly and approachable and will be working Monday-Thursday for the first 4 weeks of Term 3. Please have some patience with her as she gets to know our students and families while filling in if you are popping in or making calls to our school during this time.

A reminder to any families that have children beginning school in 2027 to please complete all enrolment paperwork as soon as possible and return this to school.
This helps schools to begin planning for class structures for following year early which is always a large puzzle of work. If you have not received an enrolment pack, please either visit or call the administration office and we will get one to you ASAP.
Our bush tucker edible garden that has been carefully looked after and improved this year by our Working Bee PnF Committee has now come to life. The garden provides students with opportunities to learn about native plants and their cultural significance. Students further enhanced this learning experience by creating signage featuring QR codes that allow visitors to access information about each plant, including its Aboriginal name and traditional uses. These initiatives strengthen connections to Country, elevate First Nations voices within our school community, and create rich opportunities for all students to engage with and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Wishing you all a wonderful school holiday period over the winter weeks coming up. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and see you all in Term 3.
