STAGE 4

Food & Agriculture - Year 7 Tech

Do you know what denaturation and the Maillard reaction are?  Well, Year 7 Tech students do, they learned all about them today as they discovered  how cooking techniques affect the texture, flavour and appearance of food while developing practical cooking skills.  They put the principles to the test completing pracs making a calzone and caramelised banana pancakes.

This term in Year 7 Language, students have been developing their French communication skills by learning how to talk about their likes and dislikes, favourite sports and hobbies, food preferences, and daily routines. Through a variety of speaking, listening, and writing activities, students have built their confidence in using French to share information about themselves and their interests.

I am very proud of the enthusiasm and progress students have shown as they continue their language-learning journey. Here are some excellent work samples from our recent assessment task, showcasing the effort, creativity, and French language skills demonstrated by our Year 7 students.

8TECH.2 are starting a new project - bottle rockets 🚀 Today we used Splat tools to draw our bottle rocket designs. Students then needed to make modifications to their base drawing to plan for their actual rockets which we have gone on to build and ultimately launch.

Collection of Works

Year 8 Visual Arts students have completed an exciting collection of artworks inspired by Australian street artist Mulga. Throughout the unit, students developed their drawing, shading, and painting skills while experimenting with coloured pencil, graphite, felt-tip pen, and acrylic paint. Their final collection included a personalised name design, a textured hand drawing, and a vibrant acrylic painting featuring an imaginative anthropomorphised animal in a surreal setting. The creativity, confidence, and artistic growth demonstrated by our Year 8 students has been outstanding, with many producing colourful and highly imaginative artworks they are proud to share.
