Term 2 Key Reminders

As we settle into the rhythm of Term 2, I would like to thank our students, staff, and families for the positive and productive start to the term. The strong partnerships between home and school continue to support the success and wellbeing of our students, and we appreciate the ongoing involvement of our school community.

Term 2 is always a busy and important term across the school.  To support students in achieving their best, I would like to share several key reminders for families.

Attendance Matters

Regular attendance remains one of the strongest indicators of student success. We encourage all students to attend school every day, arrive on time, and be prepared for learning. If your child is absent, please ensure absences are explained promptly through the appropriate school processes.

Uniform Expectations

Thank you to the many students who consistently wear the school uniform with pride.

Our school has an established uniform policy which outlines the expectations for all students enrolled at the school. The uniform policy can be found on our school website (search uniform policy for the latest version).

We ask families to continue supporting our uniform expectations, including correct footwear, hats, and sports uniform requirements on designated days. Wearing the correct uniform contributes to a positive school culture and sense of belonging.

Jewellery is one focus area for the school this term.

  • Students may wear:
    • Up to 2 earrings in each ear. These must be plain sleepers or studs (max 15mm).
    • A watch.
  • Students may not wear:
    • ‘Hoop’ style earrings that exceed 15mm in diameter
    • Dangling earrings
    • Bracelets, necklaces
    • Rings, facial piercings
  • As the weather begins to cool over the coming weeks, it is timely to ensure students have the correct school jumper.

Students in incorrect uniform can visit E03 between 8:10am and 8:30am and where possible, will be provided with a uniform item to ensure that they are compliant with the uniform policy.

Assessment and Academic Progress

Assessment schedules are now well underway. Students are encouraged to carefully manage deadlines, seek support from teachers when needed, and maintain consistent study routines at home. Parents and carers can assist by encouraging effective organisation and checking Daymap regularly.

Student Wellbeing

Wellbeing remains a priority at The Gap State High School. As academic and extracurricular commitments increase throughout the term, we encourage students to maintain healthy routines, including adequate sleep, balanced screen time, and regular physical activity. Students are reminded that support is always available through teachers, Heads of Year, Guidance Officers, and the wellbeing team.

Respectful Behaviour and Digital Citizenship

We continue to emphasise the importance of respectful behaviour both at school and online. Students are expected to demonstrate our school values in all interactions and use digital platforms responsibly and safely. Families play an important role in reinforcing positive online behaviours at home.

Communication with the School

Strong communication between school and home is essential. We encourage families to regularly check school emails, newsletters, and official communication channels to stay informed about upcoming events, assessment information, and important notices throughout the term.

Thank you once again for your continued support of The Gap State High School. We look forward to another successful term of learning, growth, and achievement for all students.
