Tui's Tale

Hi everybody
I am very excited that Term 4 has started (finally) and I can come back to school. My mum decided to give me a haircut and I feel she is lacking a few skills in this department.
Having shorter hair is great in this warmer weather so I'll get used to the way I look and feel pretty soon. Daylight savings is great but I get very tired in the mornings; do you?
Today I was able to go to mass and enjoy the blessing of St Francis of Assisi who was a great saint and lived 800 years ago! St Francis' love of animals continues though and I was given special permission by Fr Antony to come for the mass. I love Fr Antony!
On Thursday I met with a group of friends from Foundation to Year 6. We talked about how they were feeling (everybody was feeling 4 or 5 out of 5) which is how I was feeling too. Then I asked how they felt in maths. They didn't feel as good about maths. I asked some questions to find out more. They said they didn't feel so smart, that sometimes their brain was blank and stuck while others said they guessed and waited to see if the answer was right or wrong.
They gave me some feedback that I shared with their teachers. The teachers tell me that in Term 4 they are trying some new approaches to maths and using some different materials. I'll check in with my friends later this term to see if the new ways are helping them fell better about maths.
The best thing I heard was from Ayom who said "I decided I could ask for help from the teacher rather than staying with a blank mind". What great advice - I think we could all use this during Term 4.
Yips and Licks,
your friend Tui
