Welcoming Our New International Students
We are thrilled to welcome 12 new overseas students to our community this term! These students, joining us in Year 8-10, come from China, Korea, and Vietnam, adding to the rich cultural diversity of our school. We are excited to have them here and look forward to the unique perspectives and experiences they will bring to our classrooms and activities.
Some of our Chinese international students have recently taken a significant step by participating in the Victorian High School Chinese Debating Championship. It is our first time competing in this event with 17 schools participating in the match. Our debating team worked tirelessly during school holidays and school days with their trainer.
After three weeks of intensive training and three mock debates with two seeded teams, our team emerged victorious in the preliminary round against Glen Waverly High School on July 21st. Following another week of preparation, they secured a win against Carey Baptist Grammar School on July 28th, advancing to the semi-finals. Traci Cui and Xiyue Chen were each awarded the title of Best Debater in the two debates.
Our talented debaters are continuing their hard work, preparing for the upcoming semi-final match against Korowa Anglican Girls' School. Let's wish them the best of luck!
