Year 10 Misdemeanours and Retributions
27th of May, the day our lives changed. The day we embarked on an adventure we will never forget. As we endeavoured the streets of the Melbourne CBD, we were exposed to sites that we will cling to for the rest of our existence. The day began with a trip to Parliament House where we were lucky enough to encounter Politician Georgie Purcell. From there we entered the lower and upper houses . In the lower house we did a role-play about Richmond’s injecting room which equipped us with a greater idea of exactly was a legislation has to do in order to pass through government. We then walked across the city to old
Melbourne jail. The old Melbourne jail is in the city centre and is like walking into a different world. The well-preserved cells are rich in history and speak volumes on just how far our legal system has come.
We also were lucky enough to enter the Supreme Court where we partook in a role play outlining an all but too common court case of reckless driving resulting in death. Overall, the year 10 misdemeanours excursion was a highly beneficial in experiencing the ideas we covered in class in a real world environment.
