Dear Grade Four Families,
📚 Reading
In Reading, students are building on their proficiency in inferring. They are using the story settings, images and text clues, and making connections as their prior knowledge to infer character feelings and themes or the author’s message of a text.
✍️ Writing
In Writing, students are starting their own explanation texts, identifying the main ideas and any technical vocabulary.
🔢Numeracy
Students are building on known multiplication facts to extend to numbers up to 10s. They are using a range of strategies including arrays, repeated addition, area model and skip counting to solve multiplication problems and using fact families to find the inverse facts.
🔍 Inquiry
In Inquiry, students are exploring the Earth’s natural resources, including rocks, minerals and soil and identifying their distinct properties and roles. They are also comparing the differences between a positive and negative environment.
