STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Reading

This week, students have been focusing on developing their comprehension strategies by learning how to monitor their understanding as they read. They have practised recognising when a text does not make sense, identifying what has caused confusion and explaining the strategies they can use to clarify their thinking. Students have been encouraged to become active readers by pausing, reflecting and applying strategies to deepen their understanding of a range of texts.

Writing 

During Writing, students have been focusing on the structure of information texts and how authors organise information to effectively share knowledge with their readers. They have explored the key components of an information text, including introductions, organised paragraphs, subheadings and concluding statements. 

Numeracy 

During Numeracy, students have been developing their understanding of measurement by exploring units of weight, including grams, kilograms and tonnes. 

Students have also practiced converting between grams, kilograms and tonnes by exploring the relationships between these units and applying multiplication and division strategies to solve problems.
