WEEK 4 | TERM 3

PRINCIPAL'S AWARD

Week 3
Ermias P

Dear Deanside Families,

As we move through the middle of Term 3, I continue to be incredibly proud of the positive culture that exists across Deanside Primary School. Every day I have the privilege of speaking with students and observing the outstanding learning taking place. What continues to stand out is not only the high level of student engagement, but the kindness, respect and sense of belonging that our students demonstrate towards one another.

As a rapidly growing school, it would be easy to focus solely on increasing enrolments and expanding facilities. However, our greatest achievement continues to be the culture we are building together. Our shared commitment to Respect, Responsibility, Excellence and Care is evident in our classrooms, our playgrounds and in the partnerships, we have with our families. Thank you for the important role you play in supporting these values every day.

Reminder – Student Accident Insurance and Ambulance Cover

The Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students while they are attending school or participating in school activities. Parents and carers are responsible for the cost of medical treatment and ambulance transport should their child require these services. We encourage all families to review their current health insurance arrangements and consider whether they have appropriate ambulance membership or cover in place.  For more information about student accident insurance, please visit the Department of Education website or contact the school office if you have any questions.

School Uniform

At Deanside Primary School, we take great pride in our school community, and our uniform is an important part of creating a strong sense of belonging and identity. We ask that all students attend school each day wearing the correct school uniform.

Wearing the school uniform helps students:

•          Develop a sense of pride in being part of the Deanside Primary School community.

•          Promote equality and inclusion by reducing visible differences between students.

•          Represent our school positively within the wider community.

•          Develop positive habits and responsibility that will support them in secondary school and future workplaces, where dress standards are often expected.

Our uniform was developed in consultation with our community to be practical, comfortable and suitable for everyday school life. The polo shirts are durable, easy to care for and designed to withstand the demands of active learning and play.

One of the benefits of our uniform is that the primary colour is navy blue. This provides families with flexibility when purchasing shorts, pants, and skorts, as plain navy items can be purchased from a range of retailers including Kmart, BIG W, Best & Less and other clothing stores. Please note that all polo tops and jumpers must display the official Deanside Primary School logo.

School uniform items can also be purchased through our official supplier, Uniform Group.

Principal Day

On behalf of Bianca, Racheal, Spira and myself, I would like to sincerely thank our staff, students and families for the many kind messages, cards and well wishes we received in recognition of Principal Day on Friday 7th August.

Your thoughtful words and gestures were genuinely appreciated and serve as a wonderful reminder of the supportive and caring community we are privileged to be part of. Leading Deanside Primary School is an absolute privilege, and we feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such dedicated staff, inspiring students and supportive families every day.

We are immensely proud of what our school community continues to achieve. Our students amaze us with their enthusiasm, resilience and willingness to learn, while our staff consistently go above and beyond to provide outstanding educational opportunities. Thank you for your continued support, encouragement and partnership, it truly means a great deal to all of us.

On a personal note, I would also like to acknowledge our exceptional Assistant Principals—Bianca, Racheal and Spira. Their unwavering commitment to our students, staff and school community is nothing short of outstanding. They each bring professionalism, expertise, compassion and an incredible work ethic to their roles, and I am grateful to work alongside such talented educational leaders.

The countless hours they dedicate, their willingness to support others, their calm leadership and, of course, their wonderful sense of humour make them an invaluable part of Deanside Primary School. I feel incredibly fortunate to have such an outstanding leadership team beside me and our school is stronger because of their dedication and passion for making a difference in the lives of our students.

Thank you once again to our entire school community for your kindness and support. It is a privilege to lead Deanside Primary School, and we look forward to continuing to work together to provide the very best opportunities for every child.

Looking Ahead

The remainder of Term 3 promises to be another exciting period for our school. Students have many engaging learning opportunities ahead, while staff continue working collaboratively to refine curriculum programs and provide the very best educational experiences possible.

As our school continues to grow, so too does our commitment to providing an environment where every child feels safe, connected and challenged to achieve success. I thank our families for your ongoing trust, encouragement and support as we continue building something very special together.

Thank you for your continued partnership with Deanside Primary School.

Our school values remain central to everything we do. We encourage all members of our community to continue demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, Excellence and Care in all interactions and learning experiences.

Kind regards,

Stuart Telford
