Year 4 News

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope all our families had a wonderful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning. It has been lovely to welcome our Year 4 students back and see them reconnect with their classmates and settle back into their learning routines. We have lots of exciting learning experiences planned for the term and are looking forward to sharing them with you along the way!
As readers, we are beginning our new text, His Name is Walter. Students will explore the text through thoughtful discussions, make predictions, and build comprehension as they uncover the story. We are looking forward to seeing where Walter's story takes us!
As writers, we are developing our speaking and writing skills through our diorama speeches. Students will prepare and present a speech to accompany their diorama, thinking carefully about how to communicate their ideas clearly and confidently to an audience. We will also be writing a holiday recount, using descriptive language and interesting details to share our experiences from the school holidays.
As mathematicians, we are revisiting renaming in subtraction. Students will consolidate how and when we need to rename numbers when solving subtraction problems. We will be using a range of representations and strategies to build our understanding and explain our mathematical thinking.
As people of a faith, we are learning about Mother Mary and her relationship with God and Jesus. We will explore Mary's faith, trust and love, and consider how her relationship with God and Jesus provides an example for us in our own lives.
As inquirers and artists, we are getting creative as we prepare for our upcoming STEM and Art Show! Students will be creating classroom artwork using a range of different mediums, experimenting with materials and techniques and bringing their own creative ideas to life. We can't wait to show you how creative we are!
We are looking forward to a wonderful Term 4 filled with learning, creativity and lots of opportunities to grow together.
