Principal’s Powerboat 500 Reading Challenge: Talking about Reading
Congratulations to Aalaina from 7C, Marshall from 8F, Kiana from 8A and Callahan from 8B, who have all achieved an incredible 500 minutes of reading as part of the challenge. Below, you will see the reading trackers for our Year 7 and 8 students, along with the total minutes achieved so far by the top three classes.
It has been so exciting to see so many students reading and discussing books! The following are some mini reviews and reading reflections by our Year 8 students!
Middle School: Going Bush by James Paterson 3 stars Suitable for 12+ A teenage boy, Rafe, travels to Australia for an art exhibition but nothing really goes the way he expects. There’s lots happening all the time, so you never become bored! Ashlee 8F |

Tom Gates: Excellent Excuses (and Other Good Stuff) by Liz Pichon 4 stars Suitable for: 10+ years This is a funny book about Tom Gates’ life. In this novel, he had two weeks off school, and he finds ways to annoy his sister, Delia. I thought it was particularly funny when Tom was having a sleep over at his best friend’s place and he forgot stuff. Because he lives next door he dips back home and picks up what the left behind! The Trouble With Ghost by Mary K Pershall 5 stars Suitable for:12 +years A teenage girl, Ruby Clair is used to weird things happening, like being able to hear voices, but getting a call from Nicole goes way too far. This book is a thriller that will always leave you on edge and it’s spooky! Arabella 8F
