Our Year 10 students will participate in the Work Experience Program from Monday 22 June to Friday 26 June 2026, during the final week of Term 2.

Work Experience provides students with an important opportunity to experience the workplace firsthand, develop employability skills and explore possible career interests. As part of the Year 10 Humanities program, all students are required to complete a Work Experience placement.

Students should now have finalised their Work Experience placements. Please ensure that all sections of the Work Experience Arrangement Form are fully completed, as these documents are a legal requirement for participation. Any students who have not yet secured a placement are asked to do so as a matter of urgency, with the program now less than a month away.

Electronic copies of the Work Experience Arrangement Form are available on Compass under Futures, English, and Work-Related Skills – Learning Tasks. Students requiring another copy should download it directly from Compass, as student details have already been pre-filled.

All completed Work Experience Arrangement Forms are now late and should be submitted to the Careers and Pathways Office as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lesley McKay in the Careers and Pathways Office on 5945 1433.

VET Mini Cluster Information Session and Expo

On Wednesday, 27 May, we held our Vocational Education and Training (VET) Information Session and Expo at the Cardinia Cultural Centre alongside the other schools in our ‘Mini Cluster’: Edenbrook Secondary College, Koo Wee Rup Secondary College and Officer Secondary College.

The afternoon began with a presentation and Q&A panel featuring students currently undertaking VET courses across our network of schools. We would like to thank Leon, Jaedis and Natasha for speaking so confidently and thoughtfully about their experiences with VET pathways.

The event provided families with a valuable opportunity to learn more about Vocational Education and Training, including how VET can support future study and career pathways, as well as the range of VET subjects available through our local secondary school network for 2027 and beyond.

Families also had the chance to speak directly with representatives from the four schools, the Department of Education, the South East Local Learning and Employment Network (SELLEN), and a variety of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

There will also be a Course Counselling Evening held at our College on Tuesday, 17 June from 5:30pm until 7:00pm for current Year 9 and 10 students and their families to further explore VET and all other pathway options. Please see the information on our Community News page for further details.

Attending open days is an important step towards making decisions about your future education and training. Open days allow you to find out about an institution’s courses and programs, explore campus facilities and speak with current students about their experience.

This year institutions are offering a mix of virtual and on-campus experiences. Do your research for specific details and dates and register so you don’t miss out!

On Monday, the 4th of May, our Year 10 students took part in a Year 10 Pathways Day. The program was designed to develop their understanding of the VCE and VCE VM pathways, support goal setting and provide insight into the wide range of options available beyond Year 10.

As part of the day, students heard from a range of guest speakers representing TAFEs, universities and other post-school pathway providers.

Career Spotlight - Physiotherapist

What is a Physiotherapist?

Every helped a friend recover from a sports injury, or wondered how people bounce back after major surgery? Physiotherapists make that happen, and it's one of Australia's most in-demand health careers.

What do physios actually do?

  • Assess and diagnose movement, muscle and joint problems

  • Design treatment plans using exercise, massage and other therapies

  • Work with patients through recovery tracking progress and adjusting treatment along the way

  • Educate patients and their families on managing conditions at home

Might this career suit me?

Physio might be worth exploring if you:

  • Enjoy science and understanding how the body works

  • Are a good listener and communicator

  • Like problem-solving (no two patients are the same!)

  • Want a hands-on, people focused career

Where could I work?

Hospitals, private clinics, aged care, elite sports teams, schools, or even overseas. There's a lot of flexibility.

What are the pathways?

At school, focus on Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths as these are the building blocks.

Many universities offer a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (4 years), which gets you registered to practise. Some universities require a relevant undergraduate (Bachelor) degree first, followed by a Master of Physiotherapy.

ATARs for physio courses are generally competitive, so start planning early and talk to your careers advisor about the subjects and scores you'll need, and the alternative pathways that could help get you there.
