Hope in a Suitcase

The SWAT boys have been busy collecting donations for Hope in a Suitcase and in Week 10 the boys delivered the donations. Hope in a Suitcase is a wonderful local charity that provides suitcases, and a little bit of hope, to children entering out of home care. Some students at Epping Boys have received these suitcases before, and we’ve seen firsthand the confidence and dignity it brings.

Far too many children move through foster placements carrying their belongings in plastic bags. These kids matter, they are loved, and they deserve so much more. A suitcase of their own sends a powerful message: you are important, and you belong. Hope In a Suitcase fills each bag with essential items like pyjamas, clothing, toiletries, a toothbrush, a teddy to cuddle, a book to read, even colouring pencils or toys to give each child comfort and something of their own during a difficult time.

The SWAT boys requested donations include empty hard-shell carry-on suitcases, duffle bags for teenagers, and essential items for children from newborns through to teens. We really appreciate the generosity shown by our school community. You have made a real difference to the life of a child.
