Year 7 and 10

Year 7

Year 7 students have demonstrated outstanding diligence in their attendance, conduct, friendships and learning throughout this year. Many students were recently recognized for their efforts with numerous awards be given out during their assembly in the form of PBL certificates and tie pins.

In addition to their regular classroom learning, Year 7 students participated in a number of enriching excursions and incursions to conclude their first year of high school.

Swim School

Thank you to Mr McLellan and the PDHPE faculty for their organisation and coordination of this important program over recent weeks. Year 7 students developed a range of swimming, movement and survival skills, both in and out of the water. This has strengthened their ability to keep themselves and others safe in aquatic environments. Students are to be congratulated on the energy, enthusiasm and positive attitudes they demonstrated throughout the program.

Mathematics Incursion – Inquisitive Minds

During Week 10, Year 7 students participated in this hands-on problem-solving workshop designed to challenge and inspire young mathematicians. The incursion promoted critical thinking, collaboration and creativity as students worked through a series of interactive mathematical challenges and puzzles. Guided by experienced facilitators, students applied logical reasoning, communicated their ideas effectively and developed strategies for tackling unfamiliar problems. Thank you to Ms Vrataric, Mr McKenzie and the Mathematics faculty for organising this outstanding learning opportunity.

Congratulations to all Year 7 students on a highly positive and successful first year of high school. Your achievements are a credit to your individual commitment, your collective strength as a cohort, and the leadership of your Year Advisers, Mr Miller and Mr Green, and Deputy Principal Mr Martin. You consistently rose to the challenges set for you throughout the year. I know they share my pride in the growth you have shown, and staff have been thoroughly impressed by the way you have embraced life as Epping Boys. We look forward to even greater achievements as you move into Year 8 in 2026. Well done.

Year 10

Life Ready Program

Life Ready is a mandatory 25-hour program for NSW public school students, designed to prepare senior students for life beyond school by developing practical knowledge, skills and attitudes to confidently manage real-world situations related to health, safety and independence.

Throughout the program, students explored six contemporary learning contexts:

  • Independence, including financial literacy, time management, goal setting and building self-reliance
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing, focusing on emotional regulation, stress management, resilience and help-seeking
  • Relationships, covering respectful relationships, communication skills and understanding diverse perspectives
  • Sexuality and Sexual Health, involving ethical decision-making and understanding rights and responsibilities
  • Drugs and Alcohol, exploring informed decision-making, peer influence and harm-minimisation strategies
  • Safe Travel, focusing on social responsibility, problem-solving and personal safety to minimise road trauma

Thank you to Mr McLellan for his organisation of the program, and to Mr Li, Mr Lockett and Ms James for coordinating and delivering their respective sessions. A final thanks to all staff who assisted with supervision across to enable this program to run smoothly.

Year 10 Camp – Coolendel

Staff reports from the Year 10 camp at Coolendel were overwhelmingly positive, highlighting students’ excellent behaviour, engagement and enthusiasm. Students had the opportunity to disconnect from technology, camp under the stars and connect with nature and their peers. They also demonstrated resilience in managing challenging weather conditions on the final day.

Throughout the camp, students participated in a wide range of activities that promoted personal growth through safe, controlled and appropriately challenging experiences. These activities fostered self-reliance, confidence, cooperation and valuable outdoor skills, while reinforcing the school values of respect, responsibility and engagement. We are confident students returned from camp having aquired valuable knowledge from the experience they had.

Thank you; Mr Gordon, Mr Simpson and Mr Son (and Mr White, currently on leave) for their outstanding leadership and preparation in delivering the camp. This appreciation extends to the staff who generously gave their time to attend and support the program: Ms Yetman, Mr Li, Mr Bondfield, Mr Flaviano, Mr Le-Roy, Mr Thomas, Ms Halperin, Mr Purphy, Mr Kuzmanovski, Mr French and Mr Mathieson. These valuable opportunities are only possible due to the dedication and commitment of staff, and we thank them for making this experience possible for our students.
