Social Science

It has been a wonderful year of learning, investigating and immersion in all things Social Science this year. I would like to thank students for being enthusiastic and eager learners. I would also like to acknowledge the Social Science staff who motivate and engage students to learn and grow each lesson. We wish our recent HSC students the very best with upcoming HSC results as they embark on the next stage of their lives.
We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and safe summer holiday, and we look forward to seeing our EBHS community in 2026.
MUNiS Incursion
20 Year 8 students were invited to an incursion, Model United Nations in Schools. This was a smaller format of the larger Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), which usually runs for year 10 students mid year. 6 Volunteers from UNSW came to the school for the day to show our students how the UN works in the real world, and allow the students to participate in 'mock' debates about current real world issues. The focus of the day was Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT), where many countries still participate in the poaching of endangered animals to sell their precious body parts. Students were representing countries from all over the world, from Australia and the United Kingdom, to Botswana and Sri Lanka. Special mention to Daniel S (representing Botswana), Zakariah E.S.A (representing Australia), Pranav K (representing Japan), and Jayden W (representing Russia), for achieving awards as most diplomatic during our debates. Also a thanks to the 6 volunteers from UNSW for giving up their time to facilitate the event, the boys enjoyed their day and are now prepared to take on MUNA in coming years.
