News from Grade Prep

Prep Newsletter – Welcome! 

Dear Families, Welcome to another exciting week in Prep! We are so proud of how well the children are settling into school routines and building friendships. It has been wonderful to see their confidence growing each day. What We Are Learning • Phonics: We are learning about word families, focusing on the “-ig” and “-ill” sounds. Students have been practicing reading and building words within these families. • Reading: We are developing our ability to visualise while reading by creating pictures in our minds as we listen to and read stories. • Writing: In writing, we are exploring descriptive language. We even made slime and used our senses to describe how it looked, felt, and moved! • Numeracy: We are learning to compare the mass of objects, exploring which items are heavy and which are light using hands-on activities. Special Highlights We are excited to be celebrating Book Week on Monday (24th of August) next week! Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. We look forward to seeing their wonderful costumes and celebrating our love of reading together. Thank you for your continued support.
