Grade 2 Gets Cheering!
As part of their Dance Around the World unit in Performing Arts, Grade 2 students participated in a special lesson exploring the energetic world of cheerleading!
Students were introduced to some basic cheerleading skills and movements, including using pom poms, moving in time with others and learning a simple cheerleading routine.
Students also learnt about the difference between sideline cheerleading at sporting events and competitive cheerleading. Sideline cheerleading focuses on supporting a team, encouraging the crowd and creating an exciting atmosphere, while competitive cheerleading involves teams performing rehearsed routines for judges, incorporating dance, jumps, formations and other cheer skills.
It was a fun and energetic lesson that gave students the opportunity to experience another style of dance and performance as they continue their journey around the world through dance!
