Grade Five STEM

For week 5 and 6 grade five students have been looking at different parts of a computer and computer networks. They were tasked with labelling the different parts of a computer on a digital worksheet via Showbie, using textboxes and typing. To further extend students and connect to real world scenarios students had the opportunity to test build their own pc using pc part picker. Students had a budget of $3000-4000 to try and build their own PC to fit for their own purpose may it be schoolwork, gaming or content creation. For networks students explored how devices communicate with each other through the internet and wired connections, understanding the difference between standalone and connected devices. After exploring these ideas students then completed a quiz on showbie to assess their knowledge on the content. We also discussed some misconceptions that they may face with understanding the internet.
