In our last Fountain newsletter, we shared the exciting news that Eva Johnston (Year 7) was selected for the Tasmanian Water Polo State Team, earning the opportunity to travel to Brisbane in April for the national championships.

We're delighted to share even more good news: fellow SMC students, Annabelle Pritchard, Stella Thristan (Year 8) and Lucy Byrne (Year 7) have also been selected for the Under 14 Girls’ team to represent Tasmania at the upcoming Australian Youth Water Polo Championships in Brisbane from 8–12 April 2026. The girls have been training diligently, and we look forward to cheering them on as they represent the state. Congratulations and best of luck!

Estella Gordon (Year 5), who recently enjoyed outstanding success at the Equestrian State Dressage Championships. Estella was the youngest competitor at the event and the only student representing St Mary’s College.

Competing across several classes, she achieved remarkable results, placing second and third overall, along with earning two second‑place ribbons and a third for St Mary’s College.

Estella and her coach, world‑renowned trainer Matteo Rodriguez, are currently training with their sights set on the Brisbane Olympics. Her dedication, discipline and passion for her sport continue to inspire our students, and we are very proud of her achievements. Estella is already looking forward to the next eventing season, where she hopes to bring home the interschool trophy for St Mary’s College.

Sophia Campbell Smith (Year 4), who recently travelled to Melbourne to participate in the Moomba Festival as part of the dance company Salsita Kids, which she co-founded. Sophia had an amazing time at the festival, where she proudly represented the group of artists and Salsita Kids in Tasmania. What a fantastic experience, Sophia!

Summer's story, Into the Dark Tunnel, will be featured in an anthology scheduled for official release in April. Excellent work, Summer. Well done!
