CAPTAIN'S CORNER
SENIOR CAPTAIN
Throughout the last two weeks, McKinnon students and staff have begun to settle right back into the heavy grind of Term Three. For senior students, it's the busiest, most full-on term with lots of SACs piling up as the assessment period comes to an end.
For the Year 7s, the House Basketball was hosted this week, run and coached by the Senior House Captains. The grand final involved an intense game between Chisholm and Gilmore, with Chisholm leading the entire game until the last couple minutes, Gilmore gaining the win 21 to 19. Watching the game on the sideline myself, tension rose very quickly between both teams, knowing the game could go either way. What a great watch! Both sides should be incredibly proud of their efforts.
The All-Schools Netball Competition was hosted at Jubilee Park on Tuesday 30 July. The Year 7 Girls team had a great run as well as the Senior Girls team finishing second on the ladder.
Finally, in the senior school, the state finals round for the first ever Senior Girls Footy team was held Friday 2 August, an incredible achievement to get that far. The girls are now off to state finals!!
So happy and proud to say I’m a part of an amazing team and so excited to take it to the next level. MC what?

JUNIOR CAPTAIN
What a week it was from Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August! The East Campus was electric with the buzz of our five-day Olympic Challenge, celebrating the Paris Olympics in style. The whole week was a rollercoaster of excitement and school spirit. From intense dodgeball battles to energetic Just Dance showdowns, the atmosphere was off the charts. A massive thanks to everyone who got involved and made it a smashing success. A shout out to our amazing PE Department for pulling off this incredible week.
The buzz is undeniable with Year 9 camp (Monday 5 August to Friday 9 August) currently in progress, Year 9s have set off on an epic adventure at PGL Campaspe Downs in Tylden. This week will be packed with thrilling team-building exercises, exciting outdoor challenges, and opportunities to bond with peers. Whether we're conquering the high ropes or paddling through waters, it will be an experience to never forget.
Speaking of thrilling opportunities, over the next week students have the exciting opportunity to choose their subjects for the upcoming year. The variety of options is truly impressive ranging from sciences, humanities, arts, you name it! There’s something to spark every student’s passion for learning. A huge thank you to our teachers for guiding us through this process. Your support is truly invaluable as we make these big decisions.
We've already had a whirlwind of events and we’ve barely made it into the term. I can't wait to see what else semester 2 has in store for us. Stay tuned, McKinnon!
