ALL SCHOOLS NETBALL

On Tuesday 30 July our Years 7 and Senior Netball Teams headed to Jubilee Park in Frankston to compete in the All Schools Netball Championships.

The All Schools Tournament see’s the best of the Public, Private and Catholic Schools competing for the title.

Our Year 7 team were entered in the Junior Competition, so the majority of their opposition were Year 8 students. The girls played some outstanding Netball against much taller opponents and managed to out skill teams in their 1st two games against Patterson River and Mordialloc. The team then came up against Beacon hills College, Padua, Firbank and St Margaret’s Grammar who were extremely tough opposition. The girls held their own in these games but unfortunately couldn’t bring home the win! They then came back against St Francis Xavier beating them 11-6 before a final sprint to the finish against Peninsular Grammar who they beat 7-5. The team should be very proud of their efforts at the competition.

HOUSE BASKETBALL

To celebrate the commencement of the Olympics, the Year 7s took inspiration from the Boomers & Opals as they competed in the Year 7 House Basketball Competition.

There were two very closely contested heats between Chisholm & Flynn and Gilmore & Monash which saw Chisholm and Gilmore progress to the Grand Final.

The gym at McKinnon Rd was packed with supporters from Years 7 & 12 cheering on their houses as the teams took the court. Chisholm took an early lead with some excellent shooting and rebounding, but Gilmore stayed strong and late in the 2nd half staged a comeback.

As the siren blasted to end the game with the score being 21-19 to Gilmore, Chisholm were awarded a free throw. Unfortunately, they couldn’t convert the shot meaning Gilmore took away the title of House Basketball Winners.

Thank you to the Year 12 House Captains for coaching their teams and to Mr Woolhouse & Mr Hudd who refereed the games.
