Welcome Back for 2026!

Borrowing

We are thrilled with the enthusiasm students are showing for reading and the Library has been at capacity every lunchtime! All new students now have library accounts and are able to borrow resources.

Physical collection

Students can borrow up to five (5) books at a time, for a 4-week duration.  Automated overdue reminder emails are sent to students to prompt returns or renewals. We do not charge overdue fines; however, items that are significantly overdue (several months) will incur a replacement cost. Parents/carers will be contacted via Compass before any replacement fees are applied.

eBook collection

Our ePlatform offers a wide range of popular eBooks and audiobooks that can be accessed on a laptop, tablet, or phone. Students can access ePlatform via the Compass ‘star’ menu or through FHS Library. They log in using their Compass details and may borrow up to two (2) titles at a time for two (2) weeks. Loans can be renewed, or the book will automatically return at the end of the loan period.

Please see the 2026 Student Library Guide for more information.

FHS Library (our Library homepage and catalogue)

FHS Library gives students access to all our library resources, including catalogue search of our physical books, ePlatform (our eBook library), Clickview and TV4Education (our video libraries), our English pages (which have resources for all the novels/films studied in each year level), and databases including the World Book Online encyclopedia.

To access:  Compass > Star > FHS Library (single sign-on with student email and password)

We will provide more detailed information about our various resources in future newsletters.

Recess and Lunchtime Activities

The Library is open to students from 8.30am before school, at recess, and during lunchtime from 1.00pm – 1.30pm. To ensure a safe and comfortable environment, we have a limit of 50 students during lunchtime, which is reached very quickly each day.

To manage numbers, library staff distribute entry tickets at the start of lunch (12.45pm). Students can then enjoy their lunch and return to the Library at 1.00pm, knowing they have a guaranteed spot.

Students have access to a wide range of activities, including reading, DIY craft and puzzle boxes, Lego, board and card games, our popular jigsaw table, and Wi-Fi for laptop use.

We look forward to welcoming your student to the Library soon!
