SENIOR School Update

Welcome to the 2026 School Year

It has been a really positive start to the year, and I’d like to warmly welcome all of our students and families back to Frankston High School. The way our community has returned, settled, engaged and ready to learn, has been terrific to see. I’m genuinely excited about working with our students and families again this year and supporting them through what I know will be another strong year at Frankston High School.

Day 1 set a great tone across the Senior Campus. Our messages to students were simple but important. Focus on what you can control. Show up each day with purpose. Commit to being both a great person and a great learner. These ideas sit at the heart of our pillars of Excellence, Aspiration and Community, and they come to life when we consistently live our values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy.

Our Year 12 Day 1 program was a real highlight and a strong way to begin their final year of schooling. Rather than a traditional timetable, students participated in an alternate program designed to build connection, reinforce expectations and celebrate the shared journey ahead. The day included a range of sessions focused on goal setting, wellbeing and leadership, time together as a cohort, and opportunities to hear from former Frankston High School students.

A special feature of the day was hearing from alumni Jett Walles, David Hanna, Jack Kartigesu, Sarah Donato, Alyssa Lancaster and Molly Power. We are incredibly proud of each of them and were so impressed with the way they articulated their experiences beyond school. They spoke openly about their successes, their challenges and the advice they would give to students about getting the most out of their final year. Their messages were authentic, practical and deeply relevant, and provided our Year 12 students with a powerful reminder of what is possible beyond school.

The day also included a whole-cohort Colour Run at Delacombe Park, which was a fantastic way to build energy, connection and a sense of celebration at the very start of the year. Students and staff embraced the opportunity to come together, have some fun and mark the beginning of an important year in a memorable way. A BBQ lunch further strengthened connections across the cohort and reinforced the strong sense of community that exists within our Senior Campus.

It was particularly pleasing to officially welcome our Year 11 students as VCE students at Frankston High School. Moving across the road to the Senior Campus is a significant rite of passage and one that brings increased independence and responsibility. We have been very impressed with the way our Year 11 students have begun the year. The way they have settled, the maturity they have shown and the pride they are taking in their learning has been outstanding.

I would also like to thank the Senior School team for the significant work that goes into ensuring such a positive start to the year. Their leadership, care and attention to detail played a major role in setting the tone for our senior students, and I am very grateful for their efforts.
