Netball Victoria School Championships

On Friday 7th August, our ENPS Netball Team competed at the Netball Victoria School Championships that were held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville. As 2025 was the first time ENPS had entered a team in this competition, our students were super keen to take up the opportunity again this year, with close to 75 students trialing for a spot in the team.

Across the day, the team played five games against schools in our division, including Lowther Hall, Strathmore North Primary, Beaufort Primary School and Strathmore Primary. After winning just one game last year, our team really impressed this year, finishing the day undefeated! In a thrilling final game, the team secured a one goal victory in the last few seconds of the match, which placed them top of the ladder and capped off a fantastic day of netball.

Our team of ten players represented our school with such pride and enthusiasm. Each player remained focused on their individual goals, which helped them work together so effectively as a team. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the day, showing respect, encouragement and kindness towards their teammates, opponents and umpires. As their coach, I’m incredibly proud of the way they represented our school both on and off the court.

We are incredibly grateful to the parents who came along to support the team. Their encouragement from the sidelines, help with scoring duties, and providing a little sugar hit to the players (and coach!) in between games made a huge difference to the day. A special shoutout to our training partners who supported us during lunchtime training sessions as part of our preparation. 

We look forward to building on this experience and exploring future opportunities for an ENPS netball team in 2027. 

Student Highlights

On Friday 7 August the ENPS Netball Team competed in the Victoria School Netball Championships. On the day we dominated our way to being a powerhouse team while having a lot of fun. My personal highlights were winning the last and hardest game of the day by 1 hard earned point to go undefeated. Playing in Goal Attack while Sam played in Goal Shooter to have an all boys attack was also awesome. I was also acknowledged by a Melbourne Vixen staff member for my cheering and uplifting messages to my teammates! I won a Melbourne Vixen water bottle and bag for bringing this energy. Lastly, exploring the State Netball and Hockey Centre with Ethan (and getting the day off school!). It was so much fun. I played a wide range of positions from Goal Attack, Goal Shooter and Goal Keeper. I really enjoyed playing all of them and developing my skills at all sorts of positions to be more versatile. We all came together and played a role and under the amazing strategy and coaching of Miss Stephens. We thank her and are so grateful to have her guidance throughout this entire process. GO ENPS!!!

Alexander - 6AI

Our ENPS netball team DOMINATED our way to victory by going undefeated. My favourite part of the day was definitely winning all the games and trying our best. This was my second netball tournament and I learned a lot of things, such as how to play, how to control the ball, footwork and how to work as a team. A big thanks to Miss Stephens for coaching us to victory.

Ethan - 6GU

On the 7th of August the ENPS netball team competed in a tournament at Parkville for the Netball Victoria School Championships. We played 5 games and the whole time we were cheering each other on whether someone got a goal or a great intercept. Being undefeated and winning our last game by 1 point was my overall highlight of the day. I enjoyed being able to go and represent our school for a day in my favourite sport and being able to do that with my friends. I have definitely learnt some new skills whether it was helping on the edge of the circle or helping on centre passes. I loved playing Wing Attack and Goal Attack with my encouraging teammates on the court and bench. I think I performed well against my individual goals and improved throughout the day. I want to thank my teammates for supporting and cheering on everyone the whole day and Miss Stephens for taking the time to train us each week and coach us to victory!

Amelia - 6SP

On Friday the 7th of August the ENPS netball team competed in the Netball Victoria School Championships. Everyone in the team played amazing and every player contributed to us going undefeated throughout the whole day. Working with new people who I’m not used to playing with was definitely a highlight because I got to know and spend time with a whole new group of people. Some of the games were very tough, and others were more on the fun side but we all still tried our hardest throughout all the games! The final game against Strathmore PS was very close and we only won by one goal, but I think working through a stressful situation/game together brought us closer and tested our limits. And of course we need to thank Miss Stephens for all the work she has put into helping this team succeed! Overall the day was so fun and I think we all loved working together as a team, and also having a day off of school! Thank you to all of the parents who came to support us throughout the day and everyone else that was cheering us on.

Indie - 6AI

The Netball Victoria School Championships was a day filled with fun, joy, excitement and team work. There were so many great things about the day, including being undefeated the whole day, playing with people we don’t usually play with, making closer connections and everyone giving their best efforts. Being undefeated was a big highlight of the day because everyone, from on the court to the sidelines, were putting in their maximum efforts and pushing hard to finish strong. With our last game being the hardest, that didn’t stop us from giving up. We won by a point in a nail biting finish. We couldn't have done this without Georgia’s intercepts everywhere you look, Indie’s passing into the circle, Sophie and Tiffany’s moves in the goal circle (and their accurate shots - they didn’t miss!), Elsie's rebounds, Amelia’s strong driving to the ball, Sam’s shots and intercepts, Alex’s rebounds and shots and Ethan’s passing and intercepts. Our ENPS Netball team gave it their all and never gave up, even when things weren’t going our way. A massive thank you to our coach Miss Stephens who led us to victory with her positive feedback and attitude. To sum everything up, this was such a fun netball day!

Mila - 6SP

On the 7th of August our ENPS netball team competed in the Netball Victoria School Championships and it was a fun filled day with lots of laughs, cheering, goals, and teamwork. We all had trained twice every week since last term to get to where we are now and as team captain with Mila, I know that we both couldn’t be more proud of our amazing team. We spent the whole day being undefeated, trying our hardest and using skills that we worked on in our training sessions with our spectators cheering us on on the sidelines. A massive shout out to Miss Stephens who put in so much dedication and commitment with this team and we couldn’t ask for a better coach! Overall it was a great day and we all played to the very best of our abilities.

Georgia - 6GU

On Friday the 7th of August the ENPS netball team competed in the Netball Victoria School Championships. The day was so fun and everyone had a great time. We came together as a team, working well with each other on the court and always cheering for each of our teammates. We played 5 games and went undefeated the whole day. It was an incredible achievement and a result of all the hard work our team put in, including Miss Stephens, at all our training sessions and on the day of competition. What I enjoyed most was being part of a supportive team environment, where everyone cheered each other on whether they were on or off the court, as well as building stronger connections with all the players. Being new to the Goal Keeper (GK) position which I am really enjoying, I loved learning how to box out a player after they take a shot. A special thanks to Miss Stephens for working with me on this at each training session. A big thanks to all our cheer squad (our parents!) and Miss Stephens for putting in so much time and effort into our team.

Elsie - 6SP

On Friday the 7th of August the ENPS netball team played in the Netball Victoria School Championships. We didn't lose a game and we didn't look like we were going to. My favourite part of the day was being Goal Shooter (GS) with Alex (it was like basketball). I had a great time and a shout out for Miss Stephens for coaching us and thanks to all the parents and cheer squad.

Sam - 5JM

On the 7th of August the ENPS netball team made their way down to the State Netball and Hockey Centre to compete in the school Netball Victoria School Championships. To select the team, we started off with tryouts in Term 2. There were so many Year 5 and 6 students trying out in the first few weeks, before a squad of 14 players was selected, which was then trimmed down to 10 players as the final team. We played 5 games and WE WON EVERY ONE! We all played so amazingly, including in our last game against Strathmore PS where we won by 1 point. Thanks Miss Stephens for your amazing coaching and support.
