Grade 3 & 4

Term 3, Week 2

Welcome back to another busy term of learning and fun!

The Grade 3/4 students have had an excellent start to Term 3 and have been enthusiastically engaging in a range of exciting new learning experiences.

In Mathematics, students have begun exploring decimal numbers. They have been making connections to their previous learning about fractions and are developing their understanding of equivalent tenths, such as 0.3 and 3/10.

In Literacy, students are learning about poetry and discovering a variety of poetic forms. They recently created descriptive haikus, carefully following the traditional three-line structure of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Over the coming weeks, students will continue to deepen their understanding of poetry by exploring figurative language, including similes, metaphors, and personification.

In Inquiry, we have begun our new Geography unit, learning about Australia and its neighbouring countries. Students created detailed maps, identifying Australia's states and territories, as well as significant landmarks such as the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, and the Sydney Opera House.

We are looking forward to another fantastic term filled with learning, growth, and fun!
