Alternate Programs

Dan Garner - Assistant Principal Alternate Programs

As we approach the end of Term Three, I'd like to acknowledge that it has been one of the busiest terms for both teachers and students. I extend my thanks to all staff, parents, and students for their hard work and dedication.

I encourage all parents to reach out to us for updates on the work students need to complete as the school year draws to a close. We also offer support for those applying for employment or TAFE programs. Horsham College provides excellent resources in the apprenticeship and traineeship areas, and we would be happy to arrange a time for students and parents to discuss these options with us.

Our groups continue to participate in fantastic opportunities in the community, and we thank all the community organisations who are willing to work with our staff and students.  Some recent highlights include:

  • Blue group visiting the Rupanyup Farming Museum and Fed Uni with support from the Centre for Participation

  • McKenzie Creek completing martial arts with Horsham Allied Martial Arts (HAMA)

As we approach the September break, please take care of yourselves and your children. If students are feeling stressed as we get closer to receiving results, don't hesitate to contact us. Horsham has a range of services available to support you through various situations, even when the school is closed.

McKenzie Creek

HAMA Sessions

Students have been enjoying their weekly sessions with Matt from Horsham Allied Martial Arts. Over the past two weeks, they've been developing both physical skills and mental discipline. They will continue building confidence, focus, and resilience over the following two sessions.

Systems

Our students have been working hard on their latest project, plant soil moisture sensors. From wiring and soldering to woodwork and wood burning, students are developing a range of    hands-on skills.

Art

Students have been experimenting with new techniques and mediums in art. In particular, there has been a focus on using watercolour paints.
