Year 10 Work Experience Week a Great Success!
In Week 4, over 75 of our Year 10 students participated in Work Experience Week, gaining valuable insight into the world of work and exploring future career pathways.
The majority of students completed their placements locally with employers across our community. We would like to sincerely thank all of the businesses and employers who generously gave their time, support, and encouragement to our students. Without their willingness to host students, it would not have been possible to provide opportunities for so many students in a town our size.
In preparation for Work Experience Week, students spent time in Careers classes exploring their interests, strengths, and possible career pathways. Students were encouraged to use their own contacts and networks to help organise placements, and additional support was provided for those who needed help identifying opportunities or approaching employers.
Students also completed Safe@Work modules and prepared resumes and cover letters to help them develop important employability skills. This year, we also successfully commenced the new online arrangement forms process as our main option, which worked very well.
Some students took the opportunity to travel and stay with family members in other towns and cities, allowing them to experience different workplaces and industries.
Throughout the Work Experience week, the Year 10 Team and Careers Team visited students at their placements to check on their progress, discuss career interests, and support students in making the most of their experiences.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves and our school during the week. They embraced the opportunity, showed initiative, and did a wonderful job in their workplaces.
Our second Year 10 Work Experience Week will take place from 14th–18th September 2026. We will begin working with the remaining Year 10 students at the start of Semester 2 during Careers classes to help them organise their placements and prepare for the experience.
There is also an extra opportunity for students to complete work experience during the Year 10 Camp Week. Students interested in organising this opportunity should see Genni Smith between now and the end of this term.
Thank you once again to all employers and community members who supported our students and helped make Work Experience Week such a positive and successful experience.
