NAIDOC Week Celebration
Barwon Coast is hosting a special NAIDOC Week celebration:
Date: Monday, 8th July 2024
Time: 10.00 am – 11:00am
Location: Mick's Steps, Ocean Grove (30 meters west of the Dunes Café)
Event Highlights:
• Welcome to Country by a Wudawurrung Traditional Owner
• Traditional Smoking Ceremony
• Didgeridoo Performance
This free event offers everyone a wonderful opportunity to engage with and experience these important cultural practices firsthand.
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Participating in events like this helps build a more inclusive and respectful community. This years theme, "Blak, Loud and Proud" encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering First Nations people to stand tall in their heritage and assert their place in the modern world.

Anglesea Trail Running Series
Join us on July 7th at Anglesea Riverbank Park, Anglesea for a short, medium, long or friendly course.
The friendly 4km fun run has always been popular with school-aged children, and parents jogging/walking with their families.

Winter School Holiday Sessions
There are four days of school holiday sessions this time. If they sell out I will schedule more. These sessions are suitable for kids aged 5-12 years. Sessions are one hour long and include all materials for us to complete an awesome artwork. BYO song requests and artistic flair! Sessions are $15pp.
Bookings essential. Parents are welcome to drop and go if they are comfortable, otherwise, there is limited space on the couch to zone out while your kids are engaged.
Also, You are more than welcome to book back-to-back sessions and leave your kids for the little bit in between sessions, I will keep them occupied.

Queenscliffe Literary Festival - Writing Competition
For the 5th year, Queenscliffe Literary Festival is running the Penned Micro-fiction Writing competition.
The challenge is to write a story in exactly 50 words and the prizes are great.
Open section $100 book voucher; Secondary school $80 bookshop voucher and Primary school $50 bookshop voucher.

Open for kids 8 - 12 years, Superkick is a brand-new AFL program which is a hybrid between Auskick and Jnr footy.

Bellarine Basketball School Holiday Basketball Camps
These camps are designed to inspire and develop young athletes, offering a fantastic opportunity for students to enhance their basketball skills while having a blast.
Dates:
Girls Only Holiday Camp: Tuesday 2nd & 9th of July
Mixed Holiday Camp: Wednesday 3rd & 10th of July, Thursday 4th & 1th of July
Location & Time: Bellarine Secondary College, Drysdale. 9am - 3pm
Age Group: Suitable for boys and girls aged 5 - 11
Skill Levels: All skill levels welcome, from beginners to players active in the domestic competition
Coaching: Led by experienced coaches and Bellarine Storm senior players passionate about youth development
Activities: Fun drills, games, and competitions to improve basketball fundamentals
Whether your students are just starting out or are already involved in the local domestic competition, our camps provide a supportive environment where they can grow both on and off the court. We prioritize skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making each day a memorable and educational experience.

Are you a member of the Barwon Heads Soccer Club?
They have introduced a new and exciting program, focussing on injury prevention and general wellbeing.
It’s for all players and families to be involved and they are taking expressions of interest / sign up’s for;
1. A Fully Funded Two Session Program for our Junior Players and coaches on Thursday 25th July and Thursday 1st August delivered by The Injury Clinic.
The Injury Clinic Workshops are to provide skills and knowledge to our young players, so that we can all understand injuries better, and how we can reduce the risk of these injuries occurring, to support long Soccer journeys & careers.
These workshops are for players of Under 7’s, 9’s, 11’s and 13’s, girls and boys, and coaches.
2. Part subsidised weekly Yoga Classes for all players and families (approx. $10 pp), to be held on Sunday or Monday evenings at a venue in Barwon Heads.
Classes will be led by our multi-talented Secretary Katrina Harris and will include Yin Yoga for adults and anyone 12 years and up, and a Yoga Flow and Relaxation for Juniors aged 7 to 13.

Kelly Sports Holiday Program
Our program runs everyday Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Children will socialise with others from all different schools across Geelong by playing sports, games and activities. We have a schedule planned for everyday. Over the holidays we will teach children a variety of different sports such as Olympics, AFL, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Athletics, Cricket, Dance and much more!!
