Introducing New 'Jazz Funk' Bands

We’re thrilled to announce the formation of three brand-new Jazz Funk bands at our school. These exciting new ensembles bring a vibrant energy to our music program and offer students a dynamic opportunity to explore funk and jazz styles in a contemporary setting.

Congratulations to all students who auditioned and were selected for these ensembles. 

Rehearsals are now underway, and we look forward to hearing the ensembles perform at the Spring Music Soiree later this year. Stay tuned for soiree dates, and be sure to come along and support our rising stars of jazz and funk!

2026 - Year 7 Try It Out Night

Have you ever thought about learning a musical instrument but weren’t sure where to start? Already play something but want to explore other instruments just for fun? Or maybe you're excited to join a vibrant music community and play in an ensemble?

This is the event for you!

We warmly invite allYear 7 students starting at Sandringham College in 2026, as well as any students who are new or interested in joining the Instrumental Music Program, to join us for an exciting and interactive evening at our Try It Out Night, where you'll have the opportunity to:

• 🎶 Hear live performances by our Concert Band and String Ensemble
• 🥁 Try out a range of orchestral instruments with the help of our expert instrumental music teachers
• 🎻 Learn more about our school’s amazing music program and how to get involved

Whether you're new to music or already on your musical journey, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore, experiment, and be inspired.

Applications for the Melbourne Youth Orchestra 2026 Summer School

The Melbourne Youth Orchestra's famous Summer School offers many fantastic opportunities for young musicians aged 7 to 25, from beginner to advanced.

Give your students the best musical start to their year, by taking part in an intensive and inspiring week of rehearsal, musical workshops and fun social activities. The week will conclude with an invaluable concert experience at Melbourne Recital Centre.

MYO Summer School offers students an experience that will create lasting memories and connections with like-minded peers that will continue throughout their life.

At MYO we are thrilled to be welcoming a brilliant group of conductors to lead our Symphony Orchestras, String Orchestras, Symphonic Bands and Jazz Orchestras.
