Trails of Discovery

The Art Box

It has been a hive of creative activity with students refining the use of materials so they can  resolve their 'Who Am I' artworks. We have loved seeing the students exploring the huge variety of art forms and art styles they have selected to learn more about. It has been amazing to work beside them as they have undertaken their inquiry project to develop and express  ideas that are unique and personal to them. We are proud of how they have worked through the studio inquiry cycle and the wonderful work they have made. We can't wait to share more of it with you in the upcoming Art and Tech show on Thursday November 19th 5 - 7 pm. Here is a pre show sneaky exhibition preview.

Top of your Game - AFL

Students have been developing skills through a range of engaging drills and activities, with a growing focus on putting these skills into practice through game play. Students have been building their confidence in kicking, handballing, teamwork and game awareness while learning to apply these skills in a match environment. It has also been fantastic to see the number of girls participating in the class continue to increase, creating a more inclusive environment and growing interest in AFL across the group.

Top of Your Game - Basketball

During Term three and four, students participating in this Trail have been exploring what it takes to improve their performance both on and off the basketball court.

As part of the program, students have undertaken an individual research task investigating an area of basketball performance that interests them. Topics have included sports nutrition, fatigue and recovery, training principles, fitness development, mental preparation and game analysis. Students have been challenged to use their research to develop practical strategies that they can implement into their own basketball performance, monitor their progress and reflect on their improvement.

On the court, students have continued to develop and refine their basketball skills, focusing on areas such as shooting, passing, dribbling, movement and decision-making. Through competitive games students have been encouraged to apply their developing skills in game situations while building their teamwork, communication and tactical understanding.

The program has provided students with a valuable opportunity to recognise that improving sporting performance involves more than simply practising skills. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, students are developing a greater understanding of how to train, prepare and perform at their best.
