Term 4 Interschool Sport
By: Sophie Schlesinger and Katie Cook
It has been another exciting and successful period of interschool sport at Warrandyte High School, with students proudly representing the school across a range of competitions. From our Year 8 Interschool Sport Day to the Division and Eastern Metropolitan Regional Athletics Championships, students have demonstrated outstanding enthusiasm, determination, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Year 8 Interschool Sport
Our Year 8 students had a fantastic day competing at Interschool Sport. Both boys’ teams celebrated some great wins, demonstrating determination, skill and excellent teamwork throughout their matches. Our two girls’ teams also enjoyed some fantastic results, working together and supporting one another across the day. It was great to see students encouraging their teammates, showing positive sportsmanship and giving their best effort in every game.
Our table tennis team also represented the school, showcasing some fantastic skills, quick reactions and competitive play. Across all sports, students demonstrated great enthusiasm, resilience and pride in representing the school. Congratulations to everyone who participated and contributed to such a successful day. Well done, Year 8.

A special mention goes to our Year 9 and 10 student leaders who supported the day in leadership roles. Montie, James, Brodie and Jagger attended as referees, helping to officiate matches and ensure games ran smoothly, while Dash, Josh, Tate, Indie and Josie took on coaching responsibilities, encouraging and supporting our Year 8 teams throughout the day. Their willingness to step up, lead by example and support younger students was fantastic to see. Thank you to all nine students for their outstanding contribution to the day.

Division Athletics
Outstanding Performances and Record-Breaking Achievements!
Warrandyte High School was proudly represented by 31 students at the recent Division Athletics Carnival, with our athletes delivering some outstanding performances across a wide range of track and field events. It was fantastic to see all students giving their absolute best, demonstrating determination, sportsmanship and a strong commitment to representing our school.
Throughout the day, our students achieved some excellent results, with many finishing in first, second or third place in their respective events. Their efforts were a testament to their dedication, enthusiasm and willingness to challenge themselves against strong competition from other schools across the Division.
A special congratulations to Violet Pollard, Anoosha Evans, Nathan Evans, Sierra West, Adam Hodzik, Skye Jones, Adiel Pinsky and Owen Blackford, who were successful in winning their events and qualifying for the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Athletics Finals, held at the beginning of Term 4. Progressing to this level of competition is a fantastic achievement, and we congratulate these students on their success.
There were also some exceptional individual performances throughout the day. Adam Hodzik was awarded Age Group Champion, recognising his outstanding achievements across his events. In addition, two Warrandyte students made their mark in the Division record books, with Skye Jones setting a new record in the 14 Years Girls Javelin and Violet Pollard establishing a new record in the 13 Years Girls Shot Put. These are remarkable achievements and a reflection of the students' sporting talent and dedication.
While these individual achievements deserve special recognition, it was equally pleasing to see the effort, encouragement and positive attitude displayed by all 31 students. Whether competing for a place on the podium, striving for a personal best or supporting their teammates, every student contributed to a successful and enjoyable day of competition.
Congratulations to all students who represented Warrandyte High School. Your determination, sportsmanship and commitment to excellence were wonderful examples of our school values. We are incredibly proud of your efforts and achievements.

Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics Finals
Thursday 8th October provided perfect conditions for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics Finals, with eight Warrandyte High School students competing against some of the region's most talented young athletes.
Following their outstanding performances at the Division Athletics Championships, Violet, Anoosha, Skye, Sierra, Owen, Nathan, Adam and Adiel earned their places at the regional finals, competing across a range of track and field events, including Javelin, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump and the 1500m. All eight students demonstrated determination, perseverance and sportsmanship as they gave their absolute best against strong competition.

A highlight of the day was Skye's outstanding performance in the 14 Years Javelin, where she placed second overall, an impressive achievement at regional level and a reflection of her dedication and athletic ability.

Qualifying for the Eastern Metropolitan Region Finals is a significant accomplishment, requiring students to progress through earlier levels of competition and earn their place among the region's best athletes. The hard work, commitment and dedication demonstrated by these students in reaching this level of competition is something of which they should all be extremely proud.
Throughout the day, our students were excellent ambassadors for Warrandyte High School, through their performances, positive attitudes and support for one another.
The Warrandyte High School community is extremely proud of all eight students, not only for their sporting achievements but also for the outstanding manner in which they represented our school. Their efforts reflect the strength of our school sporting program and the opportunities it provides for students to challenge themselves, pursue their interests and strive for personal excellence.
Year 7 & 8 Interschool Sport Gala Day Preparations
Our Year 7 and 8 students have been busy training in preparation for their final interschool sporting event of the year. On 26 November, seven schools will come together for a massive combined Year 7 and 8 Gala Day, competing in Futsal, European Handball, Ultimate Frisbee and Tag Rugby.
In the lead-up to the event, students have been working hard to develop their skills, learn the rules and build their tactical understanding of these sports, which are not as commonly featured in our interschool competitions. It has been fantastic to see students enthusiastically embracing new challenges, developing their teamwork and preparing for what promises to be an exciting day of competition.
We look forward to seeing our students put their hard work and preparation into practice as they proudly represent Warrandyte High School on 26 November.
