Primary Report

It has been a hectic and exciting term for us here in Primary, albeit shorter than usual. I want to thank everyone for their hard work, including our amazing teachers, delightful students and our heroic parents. You are all responsible contributors to our wonderful and unique community here at Macleod. Together we make our little ecosystem function so well.

We have had lots of activity happening around the school for our students. The biggest event for the term was Cinderella the Musical, which was a triumph for all involved. I was so proud of the students for their commitment to rehearsals and the time they gave to help make the show a roaring success. I think this was the best show the school has put on so far.

I would like to acknowledge the following students for their hard work and contributions to this production: Magdalena Maria Hellstern, Matilda Bloomfield, Eloise House, Penelope Drake, Indiana Walker, Angelina Keogh, Mia Roberts, Nidia Vidal, Jessica Dimech, Jonathan Zac Sequiera and Courtney Bell. This was the most Primary students we have ever had participate in one of our productions. Congratulations to you all!

In the sporting arena, we wrapped up our year for Interschool Sports competition. Sadly, no finals action for Macleod this term but once again, our students represented the school so proudly and enjoyed every game. They never fail to represent us in a positive light showing all of our values. We look forward to our seasons next year.

It was a pleasure to take our Year 4,5,6 students into the city last week for a walking tour of Melbourne. Our guides, Mayer and Joseph took us through a journey which focussed on the waves of immigration to Melbourne. It is fascinating to explore our city as a tourist and visit some places that were virtually unknown to the students. I think we all learnt so much about the places and people that make up our history and now see it in a different light.

I have been involved in the student leadership interviews and process with our current leaders who are assisting me in selecting our new leaders for the following year. I would like to thank those students who have put themselves forward for to be considered. They have shown great courage and maturity in their willingness to be leaders in our school. We will be announcing our new leaders early next term as well will wrap up interviews today.

Finally, our Footy Frenzy Day was a great success. It was good to see everyone in their team colours, taking part in the activities and enjoying the barbecue lunch provided. It was also wonderful to see our older students modelling and encouraging the efforts of our younger children as they had a go at all of the activities on offer. It was a true illustration of our communal attitude here at Macleod.

I wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday and look forward to the next part of our journey for 2025.
