Captain Captain Captain
As we enter our last term as College Captains, we would first like to give a huge thanks to all the teachers and peers involved in the leadership team and school council.
To Ms Tran, simply, none of what we do could be possible without your hard work and commitment to the SRC team. To all other SRC members, we thank you for taking time out of your busy and stressful high school lives to make a change here at our school. Despite being a small team, we have accomplished so much throughout the year, and we are excited to see how you expand on this moving forward.
We have full confidence in the SRC team to continue building on what we've started and lead the way next year. We would like to thank Mr Panaccio, along with all other teachers on the school council, including parents, Mr Kim Wiley the Council Vice President, and our student representative Hatem Abdalla. Your collective effort within the council has not gone unnoticed, and you all certainly deserve massive credit for constantly making beneficial changes within our school.
This year has flashed before our eyes, it seriously felt like days ago we were just beginning our time at Macleod. It has been incredible to see the changes the college has undergone in the past 5 years. From the building of 'S' Block to the changes to the Year 12 study centre, and all the teachers that have come and gone in this time.
The College's shift, led by Mr Panaccio, to adopt a wellbeing focus within the classroom has been incredibly beneficial as we transitioned out of the pandemic. This focus is still widespread within our classrooms, and has shown major improvements to students wellbeing, and overall comfortability in the classroom.
An SRC initiative to raise funds for the installation of A/C units in our classrooms, led by Zoe Lethlean, has brought upon the Macleod Community cookbook project. Combining student artwork, and treasured family recipes, the cookbook will represent the creativity of our students, diversity amongst the community, and create a positive change through sales, and contributions to A/C installation.
Zoe, a Year 11 Student Leader has taken it upon herself to raise this concern to the SRC Team and School Council, and has shown the leadership that so many students here at Macleod College carry.
Final thanks to Mr Light - Senior School Leader, Mr Ryan - Year 12 Student Manager and Mrs Tandon - Year 11 Student Manager, from all of the VCE cohort. You have all gone above and beyond to plan end of term events, games, and have always been available to assist throughout the year. Your constant support and compassion has been incredibly helpful as we navigate VCE, and we certainly could not have done it without you. Not only that, but you have made VCE an incredibly fun 2 years, and Year 12 has been a wonderful highlight of high school.
Finally, but most importantly, to the graduating class of 2025. Congratulations! We are now mere weeks away from graduating, and beginning the end of year exam grind. It has been wonderful, and we are so privileged to have spent the past 5 years in such an amazing cohort. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you, as from our first days in Year 7 to now in Year 12, we’ve grown not just in knowledge, but in maturity and character.
The next few weeks will likely be the hardest, most challenging times we’ve experienced as we prepare for exams, but whilst it is a cliche, regardless of what you achieve in terms of an ATAR, we should all be super proud of the simple fact we have made it this far.
Achieving an ATAR does not display what we have all achieved individually, growing and developing from age 13 to mature 18 year olds, prepared for independence and the next chapter. So, congratulations, good luck, and I can’t wait to see where we all end up as we close the book that was high school.
Thanks again to all teachers involved in this incredible 5 year journey, best of luck to next year's Year 12s, incoming Year 7s and all other students.
