Bunnings Trade Skills for Teens

Over four exciting days, Macleod College students had the valuable opportunity to work closely with Bunnings in a hands-on learning project "Trade Skills for Teens" that combined teamwork, design, and community spirit.

Day 1: Four students visited Bunnings, where they gained an insight into what it’s like to work in the retail and trade environment. They learned about workplace safety, logistics, customer support, and the importance of teamwork. To support their learning, each student also received a set of tools generously provided by Bunnings.

Day 2: Students began assembling and reviewing the design of a bench seat. This stage focused on the importance of planning, preparation, and selecting the right tools for the job.

Day 3: Assembly continued, with students learning from their mistakes and improving their practical skills. With guidance from a trade expert, they received professional tips and advice that will support them in future projects.

Day 4: The completed bench was proudly donated by our high school students to the primary school students. The gesture was warmly received, and to celebrate, the Bunnings team ran a fun planting activity that the younger students thoroughly enjoyed.

This project not only gave our students valuable hands-on experience but also strengthened connections between our school and the local community. We extend a huge thank you to Bunnings for their support, generosity, and encouragement in making this experience possible.
