Year 7 Boys Netball

The Year 7 Boys netball had a highly successful year. They won our district competition against the local schools and then the Northern Metropolitan Regional finals without dropping a game. Monday we played State finals.

Our first game was an impressive game - we managed to beat a very strong Wodonga team (who ended up finishing on top of our section) by 2 goals and our hopes were high. Unfortunately we were unable to find that winning form and lost the next game against Rochester SC and our last game against Ballarat was a nail biter.

Unfortunately we lost by one goal when the opposition goal shooter managed to sink their goal a second before the buzzer. This meant we just missed out on the finals. Well done boys for getting this far and we will be even stronger next year from the experience. Thank you to Marijah and Lily for helping with trainings and coaching the games.

Sports - Year 7 Round Robin

Prior to every sports team going out to compete the students are reminded about our school values and how important it is to display them in everyday life and in particular, when representing the school whilst on sport. One student from each team is then asked to produce a report on how the students performed against these values.

Basketball

The girl's basketball team fought hard, nevertheless most of the girls have never played a match before. As we were warming up, we knew it would be a hard contest against Vewbank, but we stuck together as a team, didn't put our heads down and most definitely did not doubt ourselves. Unfortunately, the match wasn't going our way, but we kept on trying, putting in 100%, trying to endeavour, pushing each other to be our best and most of all having fun and enjoying the privilege to be there.

We came in strong on our second match, but unluckily, the match didn't go the way we were hoping for. We didn't quit, and we kept on putting in our maximum effort again and again. At the end of the match, we shortened the gap, which shows our determination to get better and better.

Overall, it was a great learning experience and there were several things to take away from today.

3 Values displayed:

ACHIEVE

  • We all tried our utmost best all throughout our matches, no matter the scores.

  • We never gave up because all we wanted to do is savor the moments we had to play together.

  • Everyone improved so much from our first game to our last, which shows how much we want to progress.

RESPECT

  • We respected the referee and their decisions no matter which way it went.

  • We respected our environment by cleaning up after ourselves and behaving in our best manner.

  • We respected our opposition and displayed countless acts of sportsmanship both during the match and outside of playing.

  • We all respected the public in McDonald's allowing elderly and others to order their food first.

CONNECT

  • The team was there for one another, whether it was backing someone up in the game or boosting their confidence so they can perform at their best level.

  • Everyone had effective and efficient communication and constructive feedback to give to one another.

  • Everyone adapted well to the environment and unified well.
