BIKES & E-SCOOTER Road Rules

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
Promoting Safe and Responsible Travel to School
We are committed to ensuring the safety of our students, staff, and the broader community. Recently we have received concerns from local residents about student safety while riding to and from school. To support a safe and responsible school environment, we ask for your cooperation in reinforcing safe travel practices with your child.
Bicycles
If your child rides a bicycle to school, please ensure they:
Wear a properly fitted helmet at all times. Helmets must be securely fastened under the chin to provide protection.
Walk their bike on the footpath when approaching and leaving the school grounds.
Do not ride on school grounds to prevent accidents.
Students who do not wear a helmet correctly or follow these expectations may have their bicycle held at school until a parent/carer can collect it.
For further guidance, please review the Department of Education Cycling to and from School Policy and Road rules for riding a bike in Victoria : VicRoads
Electronic Scooters, Electonic Bikes, Skateboards and Scooters are Banned at Frankston High School
For safety reasons, e-bikes, e-scooters, scooters, and skateboards are not permitted on school grounds and should not be used to travel to or from school.
While some students may use these forms of transport outside of school, it is important to note that e-scooters and e-bikes are subject to strict road safety laws. Riders must follow all VicRoads regulations, including age restrictions, speed limits, and helmet requirements.

Students who fail to follow these school rules and legal requirements will have their e-scooter, e-bike, skateboard, or scooter held by the school until a parent/carer can collect it.
We appreciate your support in keeping our school and community safe.
