JUNIOR School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
Year 7 Update
As Term 1 comes to a close, we would like to express how proud we are of the way our Year 7 students have transitioned to high school life here at Frankston High School. From the beginning, this cohort has shown positivity, courage, and a willingness to embrace new opportunities – setting a strong foundation for the years ahead.
From our very first day celebrating the start to high school with our Level Up program, students embraced the transition with enthusiasm and resilience. Throughout the term, Year 7 students have built a strong sense of community – supporting one another in the classroom, on Year 7 Camp at Lord Somers, at our whole-school Swimming Carnival, and will continue to do so in today’s Year 7 House Competition, proudly led by our Year 12 House Leaders.
We’ve been overjoyed seeing so many Year 7 students getting involved in the many extra-curricular activities we offer at Frankston High School, including Semper Squad and our upcoming School Production, building strong friendships and new skills along the way.
Well done to all students for their focus during NAPLAN and for taking on the many new challenges of high school with determination and a positive attitude.
Congratulations, Year 7 – your first term has been a great success, and we look forward to seeing what you will achieve next term!

Year 8 Update
As we approach the end of Term 1, I want to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic start to the year for so many of our Year 8 students. It has been wonderful to see them embracing the challenges and opportunities of Frankston High School life—whether in the classroom, through sporting opportunities, in extracurricular activities, or simply in the way they support and encourage one another.
Throughout the term, we have reinforced our school’s pillars of excellence, aspiration, and community, and I have been impressed by the way many of our students have demonstrated our core values of respect, responsibility, resilience, and empathy. These are qualities and values that we will continue to teach, reinforce, and celebrate. We don’t underestimate the challenging, modern-day world that our young people live in which strengthens our resolve to support our Year 8 students to be the best versions of themselves and to achieve their full potential.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated teachers for their hard work and commitment to ensuring every student has the chance to learn and grow. I also want to acknowledge our parents and carers for their ongoing support. By working together, we create the best possible environment for our young people to thrive and it was fantastic to hear so many positive comments about interaction through our recent Parent Students Teacher Conferences. I also want to acknowledge and thank our Year 8 Coordination Team, Ms Paige Whitworth and Mr Gareth Fuller, led by Mr Joel McMahon who work tirelessly to support the Year 8 cohort. Their passion, energy and care for our Year 8 students is inspiring and it’s a pleasure to work alongside such amazing professionals.
As we head into the well-earned Easter holidays, I encourage our students to take time to rest, recharge, and reflect on their achievements so far. Term 2 will bring new challenges and exciting opportunities, and I look forward to seeing our students return ready to continue their year with energy and enthusiasm.
Wishing all of our Year 8 students and families a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
