PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Friends

It has been such a busy and rewarding first term of 2025! Thank you to our fantastic parents/carers for all of your efforts working in partnership with us to ensure success for your children. Thank you to our wonderful students for their efforts in and out of the classroom, in making the most of the enormous amount of opportunities for them. Thank you to our outstanding staff for their tireless efforts in guiding the learning and wellbeing of our students. I am really proud to be your Principal, as we have shared many successes and worked through any challenges that have arisen. Please enjoy a relaxing break over the holidays with your family and friends.

School Leaders Breakfast

Thank you to Mr Jon Christie and Ms Leah Hannas who took our Year 12 School Leaders; Blake Alford-Ryan, Tyra Gourdouros, Callum Rae and Maddy Kelly to the Committee for Frankston & Mornington Peninsula School Leaders Breakfast.

This prestigious event brought together student leaders from across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula to address a room of major federal election candidates, local government officials, and business leaders. Each school responded to the prompt:

“This federal election, the Australian Government’s number one priority should be…”

Our Frankston High School representatives delivered passionate and well-researched speeches on three critical issues impacting young Australians today:

  1. The Cost of Living Crisis – Addressing the financial strain on young people, particularly rising rent, groceries, and transport costs.

  2. Education Funding & Support – Advocating for increased investment in schools, resources, and pathways to higher education.

  3. First Nations Rights & Recognition – Highlighting the need for stronger government action on Indigenous issues, including education, health, and constitutional recognition.

Their powerful speeches sparked thoughtful discussions and reinforced the importance of youth engagement in politics. With many students in the room preparing to vote for the first time, the event provided an incredible opportunity for young leaders to influence real change.

NAPLAN

Thank you to Ms Kate Adriaans and Ms Sam Cody for their efforts organising NAPLAN this year for our Year 7 and Year 9 students. Thank you also to Mrs Leah Hannas who was involved in the testing, along with those teachers supervising the sessions and our ICT Team. We look forward to celebrating the growth of our students in their learning when these results are available.

Year 7 Music Recruitment Night

On Tuesday 4 March we held our Year 7 Music Recruitment Night. It was wonderful to see many parents/carers and Year 7 students here learning more about our Music program and trying different instruments. Thank you to Mr Ben Braithwaite, Mr Peter Sharp, Mr Andrew McAdam, Ms Kim Starr, Ms Gillian Kinnear, Ms Samantha Cody and the rest of our Music Team.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of the swimmers who competed at SMR swimming. There were so many places on the day, leading to an overall aggregate champion title. Particular mention goes to Eva Murray (Year 10) who won the girls 16 year 50m butterfly and backstroke, as well as the girls 16 year freestyle relay who are off to State!

Congratulations to Adele Curtis and Ella McDonell (Year 10 students) for receiving gold medals from the 2025 Volleyball Victoria Beach Schools Cup.
