Welcome back to Term 2, Year 6!

We hope you’ve had a restful break and are ready for what promises to be a busy and exciting term ahead. There’s already a real buzz in the air as everyone settles back into routines and reconnects with friends.

One of the highlights this term will be our much-anticipated Market Day on Thursday the 25th of June. Preparations are already underway, with students enthusiastically planning their stalls and developing creative ideas for their products.

In Week 3, students will bring in prototypes to present to their class, giving them a valuable opportunity to gain feedback and refine their designs.

Alongside Market Day, there is plenty to look forward to across the term. We will continue participating in interschool sports, building skills and teamwork, leading up to an exciting Lightning Premiership day. Our Athletics Carnival is another major event on the calendar, offering students the chance to challenge themselves and show great sportsmanship.

We are also looking forward to our excursion to Dandenong Market, which will provide a fantastic real-world connection to our learning. It’s shaping up to be a dynamic and rewarding term, and we can’t wait to see all that our Year 6 students will achieve.

Maths in Year 6 for Term 2

In Mathematics this term, our Year 6 students will be consolidating their understanding of addition and multiplication, with a focus on building accuracy, efficiency and confidence when solving problems. They will continue to develop strategies for working with larger numbers, decimals and real-world applications, helping them see how Maths connects to everyday life. We will also be exploring location and time, where students will interpret grid references, use coordinates to describe positions, and apply their understanding of time in practical contexts such as timetables and elapsed time.
