MUSIC LESSONS – 2026

MUSIC LESSONS – 2026
The following is information regarding keyboard, guitar and drum lessons in 2026 at Hillsmeade Primary School.
Private instrumental tuition from Shane Burns.
COST: $36.00 for 30 min. Individual tuition.
A 7% family discount applies to siblings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- To ensure that steady progress is made, it is important that students have an instrument to practise on.
- If a keyboard is being considered for purchase, the only important function required is “touch response”. I would recommend the 76 key Yamaha NP-32. Otherwise, the cheaper 61 key Yamaha NP-12 is an option.
- If a guitar is being considered for purchase, a classical guitar (nylon string) is best for beginners, either ¾ size or full size, depending on the student’s size.
- A guitar tuner is a crucial accessory.
- If a drum kit is being considered for purchase, an electric kit is the convenient option as acoustic drums are extremely loud!
If there is a delay in purchasing a drum kit, the student will at least need drumsticks to practice drum-roll exercises.
BOOKS:
I will supply the first book and add the cost to the account. I will advise parents of any additional books.
PAYMENT:
- Banking details will be provided on the invoice, along with a due date for payment.
- Payment by instalments is an option.
COMMITMENT:
- Students must be prepared to practice regularly and fill out the practice times in the record book supplied.
STUDENT ABSENCE:
- If a student is absent, I will organise a catch-up lesson providing that I am informed of the absence by 8.00am on the day of the lesson.
PERFORMANCE:
It’s great for students to have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.
Each year there will be a recital towards the end of Term 4.
Participation is not compulsory, but it is a very good opportunity for students to showcase their talent.
