Term Four programs for School leavers
Thornlie Trade Career Expo
During the school holiday period, Thornlie Jobs and Skills Centre will be holding a Thornlie Trade Career Expo. The expo is on 8 October from 10am – 12.30pm at the South Metro TAFE Thornlie Campus.
Organisations involved in the Construction, Automotive, Mining and Defence sectors have been invited to attend, including employers with opportunities in the fabrication, engineering, construction, automotive and electrical trades.
This is a great opportunity for VETDSS students and other trade-orientated students to speak directly with a range of employers about apprenticeships, industry requirements and other employment opportunities.

One-on One Careers Counselling
On Wednesday, 10 September we welcomed representatives from the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Notre Dame University and Murdoch University to meet one-on-one with our Year 12 students.
The event was hosted in the Discovery Centre, and gave our ATAR pathway students an opportunity to meet face to face with member of their prospective Universities and ask the big questions they have been considering.
The one-on-ones were a great success, and the feedback from our Year 12s was that they got a great deal from their various meetings. Perhaps even better, the feedback from the University representatives was uniformly how impressed they were with the Lumen Christi College students, how well-prepared they were for the meeting, and what lovely young people they were!
VET/Careers Spotlight
Last Wednesday, 17 September the Year 12 Certificate III in Music students were privileged to perform at the City of Gosnells Citizenship Ceremony. Featuring Brooklyn Shaw on vocals, Clarisse Torres-Hope on keyboard, Savanna Bazzica on bass, and Coby Field on guitar. They performed three iconic Australian songs, accompanied by Jacob Raymond in Year 8 on drums, and our Music Coordinator, Anthony Price, performed backup accompaniment in between speeches. It was an honour to watch our talented students perform and see how well received they were by the public and dignitaries.
