Year 10 Excursion

On Friday, 28 February the Year 10 Courts, Parliaments and Markets class went into the city for a visit to the Parliament of Victoria. Students were provided a tour of Parliament House by the local MP, Nick McGowan.
Students learnt about the history of the Victorian Parliament, the role of MPs and were able to explore the buildings. There were lots of great questions posed by our students to Nick about his job, what politicians do when Parliament isn’t running and how laws can be changed.
The excursion was a fantastic ending to our unit of studying about Parliament and I think it left a few students thinking about future careers in politics.
Thank you to Nick McGowan for hosting our students and to our students for being fantastic role models of the Norwood values.
