Students in Year 7 and 9 will complete NAPLAN with our test period beginning on March 12.
Online NAPLAN tests are designed to provide precise results and are engaging for students. The tests are tailored (or adaptive) which means that each test presents questions that may be more or less difficult depending on a student’s responses. This helps students remain engaged with the assessment. Tailored testing allows a wider range of student abilities to be assessed and measures student achievement more precisely. A student’s overall NAPLAN result is based on both the number and complexity of questions they answer correctly. Your child should not be concerned if they find questions challenging; they may be taking a more complex test pathway.
Students will complete 4 tests over the 3 day period:
Writing (42mins) Students are provided with an idea or topic called a “writing stimulus” or “prompt” and asked to write a response in a particular genre (narrative or persuasive writing).
Reading (65mins) Students read a range of informative, imaginative and persuasive texts, and then answer related questions.
Conventions of language (45mins) Students are assessed on spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Numeracy (65mins) Students are assessed on number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN please contact Nicole Pratt (Yr 7) or Adam Given (Yr 9).
I had the absolute pleasure of attending camp on Tuesday, 18 February and Thursday, 20 February, where I had the chance to witness the students having an incredible time and making the most of the perfect conditions.
Our adventurous group dived right into a variety of exciting outdoor activities, from tackling water obstacle courses to racing down the water slide at top speeds. It was all about teamwork, overcoming challenges, and personal growth. But it wasn’t all about the adrenaline – the camp also offered some fantastic educational experiences. Hut building allowed students to connect with nature, while archery helped sharpen their numeracy skills. They also had the opportunity to deliver Class Captains speeches and participate in some unforgettable lip sync battles.
A huge shoutout to the amazing ADANAC staff for bringing this all to life and ensuring the safety and happiness of our students throughout the adventure.
To our outstanding Year 7 students: You were nothing short of amazing! Your energy and enthusiasm made this camp truly unforgettable. Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to our fantastic teachers, led by Nicole Pratt and Cynthia Kennedy, whose hard work and dedication deserve all the praise.
What an incredible adventure swimming sports has been! Despite the late-night cancellation on February 13th and a venue change, we had an amazing turnout on Monday, February 24th, with a record 901 students attending the swimming event, making the day a fantastic celebration.
The addition of Water Polo was a great success, as it encouraged even more students to get in the water and participate.
A huge shoutout to Mr. Jag for his outstanding leadership. He managed the last-minute venue change, added new events, and adjusted supervision rosters and transportation – all to ensure the day ran seamlessly. We're incredibly grateful for his efforts and dedication!
Now onto Athletics on March 25.
