Upcoming events

UYPSSA swimming for years 3-6, Tuesday, Feb 24 at Healesville outdoor pool. An optional even for those interested.

UYPPSA Kayaking for years 5-6, Wednesday, Feb 25 at Lilydale Lake.  Another optional event.

Intentions to attend have been sent to the relevant families via nforma.

New Procedure for Optional Interschool Sport Events

The note below has been emailed to parents and carers with students in Years 3-6.

Dear Parents and Carers,

St Joseph’s School is a member of the Upper Yarra Primary Schools Sports Association (UYPSSA). The association is made up of three districts—Silvan/Warburton (our district), Wandin and Healesville. As a member school, St Joseph’s pays an annual affiliation fee, which is funded through the fees and levies paid by families.

This affiliation fee covers student participation in the following events:

• Athletics Day
• Aussie Sports Expo
• Winter Sports Round Robin
• Orienteering

In addition to these events, the UYPSSA also offers a number of optional activities that children may choose to opt into. These events are not covered by the school’s affiliation fee and require an additional payment to participate. Most of these activities are run by external organisations and take place at venues outside the school system.

For these optional events:

• Transport to and from the venue is the responsibility of families
• Supervision during the event is the responsibility of parents
• The presence of a St Joseph’s staff member cannot always be guaranteed

We therefore ask that families read event notices carefully to ensure these arrangements are clearly understood.  Even if your child is not attending an event, please indicate in the non-attendance section of the form.

Examples of events that fall into this category include:

• Swimming Sports
• Kayaking
• Girls’ Football Gala Day
• Cross Country
• Snow Trip
• Hooptime
• Physical Maths Challenge
• Division and regional finals for all sports
• Other events that St Joseph’s has not participated in during recent years

When one of these events is upcoming, a notice outlining event details and the participation fees will be sent via N-Forma. Once payment has been received by the school, your child will be registered with the UYPSSA and a permission form will be issued via N-Forma. Please note that students cannot be registered or permission forms issued unless payment has been received.

Thank you in anticipation of your support with this updated procedure, which has been introduced to improve the efficiency of registrations and fee collection.
