Welcome to 2026!

The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time for our students, but it can also bring a mix of emotions. New classrooms, new teachers, new routines, and new friendships all mean change—and supporting student wellbeing during this transition is a key priority for our school.

In these early weeks, we focus on helping children feel safe, connected, and confident. Teachers spend time building positive relationships, establishing clear and predictable routines, and creating welcoming classroom environments where every child feels valued. When children feel secure and supported, they are better able to engage in learning and enjoy school life.

Wellbeing looks different for every child. Some students settle in quickly, while others may need a little more time and reassurance. It’s normal to see a range of emotions at the start of the year, including excitement, tiredness, or nervousness. T

eachers are attentive to these needs and work closely with students to help them navigate the transition at their own pace.

You can support your child’s wellbeing at home by maintaining regular routines, allowing time to rest, and encouraging open conversations about their school day.

Simple questions like “What made you smile today?” or “Who did you enjoy spending time with?” can help children share their experiences and feelings.

We also encourage children to practise kindness, resilience, and help-seeking skills, reminding them that it’s always okay to ask for support. By working together, we can ensure that every child feels supported, included, and ready to learn!

Respectful Relationships

The Respectful Relationships initiative is a whole-school approach that models and promotes respect, positive attitudes and behaviours.

It teaches children and young people to build healthy relationships and their self-confidence. Respectful Relationships embeds a culture of respect and equality across the entire school community.

Each fortnight, students participate in a Respectful Relationships Lesson. During Term 1 our topic is 'Emotional Literacy'.

This is what the students will be unpacking in these lessons:

Foundation

Students will recognise and identify their own emotions
Students will describe situations where they feel different emotions

PBL- Positive Behaviours for Learning

PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) is an organised, data-driven system of interventions, strategies, and supports that positively impact school-wide and individualised behaviour planning.

By using the most current best practices, strategic teams are trained to positively impact behaviour at three key behavioural tiers: Universal or primary (whole school); Secondary (individual child or group of at-risk children); and Tertiary or Intensive (children with complex needs and behaviours that severely impact the child, school and/or community functioning).
